Welcome Townsend Chiropractic Health to the Office!

I would like to welcome Gordon Townsend and his staff to the office. Dr. Townsend has been practicing in specialized chiropractic care for 56 years. He is certified in extremity and cranium adjustment techniques. Dr Townsend practiced in western Washington in several locations, his original office was opened in 1956. Dr Townsend has lectured all over the world, teaching other medical providers Craniosacral Technique and Craniopathy. He also authored several examination and treatment techniques that are used by chiropractors all around the world. This effort earned his the title of international chiropractor of the year 1999. He moved to Yakima, Washington in 2017. His return to patientcare following retirement was to help Dr Raul Garcia open a practice in Yakima. Dr Garcia remains an Emergency room physician in Toppenish, while Dr Townsend remains in Yakima to continue to help patients reach their full potential of health.

Dr. Townsend specializes in Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) and Chiropractic Craniopathy a craniosacral chiropractic technique. This means, he focuses on 507 points on the body during treatment. Each adjustment is from head to toe! All treatments are based on the presence or lack of body polarity. Yes, there is a physical adjustment, but also an energetic one.

After the initial breath of life we are subject to the craniosacral respiratory mechanism. This is based on the respiratory movement of the head bones and the circulation of cerebral spinal fluid in a reciprocal manor with the sacrum. If this mechanism is out of balance, so is your body as a whole. In this relationship the body responds via inflammation. Minor inflammation is important for our health, it challenges the body to function in a normal manor. It is important to understand that when our body is out of balance it is an issue of excess or deficiency. There are reflex mechanisms that can correct this issue. These reflex mechanisms are the means by which the body can be brought back into balance. Dr. Townsends techniques focus on these mechanisms to diagnose or treat your imbalance.

You may ask what is craniosacral chiropractic designed to help? Well, it balances the innate function that we call life. By balancing the craniosacral respiratory mechanism you can directly or indirectly influence all functions of the body.

Why should you see Dr. Townsend? Because he treats the body as a whole. Each individual requires specific care for their specific conditions and needs. YOU the whole you, is his focus.

Dr. Townsend focuses on personal injury, auto accidents and work related injuries. He believes it is his responsibility to represent his patients in whatever need presents itself.

Give Dr. Townsend a call at 509-902-2763 or stop in at 107 S 7th Ave Ste 203 Yakima, WA 98902 on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday from 9am to 5pm. Walk ins are always welcome.

Insurance Update

Unfortunately, there have been many unexpected changes for massage therapy with most major medical insurances over the last year. With careful consideration we have decided that DCS Therapeutic Massage will only be submitting billing on specific insurances.

Both our providers are In Network with Kaiser Permanente, EBMS, and Washington State Labor and Industries. These insurances along with all Active Personal Injury Insurances will be billed direct from this office.

We will no longer be submitting billing on the patients behalf to any other insurance, but will gladly provide you with a Super Bill. A superbill is a detailed invoice outlining the services a client has received. The client submits the superbill directly to the insurer, giving the insurer all the information they need to pay the claim, directly to the client.

As always we appreciate your business. And your understanding with these new policy changes.

If you have questions please contact Danielle at 509-453-1420.

Immunocompromised Patient Care Policy

Please be advised. As the health threat of covid-19 and State virus restrictions continue; we have made some policy changes in order to receive massage therapy.

Any patient that is immune compromised must have a release from their primary care provider to receive massage therapy.

Any patient with lung issues, ie: asthma, COPD, fibrotic lung disease, ect. Will only be scheduled for the first appointment of the day.

Any patient that has an immunocompromised diagnosis such as AIDS, cancer, diabetes, or certain genetic disorders; will also only be scheduled for the first appointment of the day.

This new policy will ensure our office air purification units have enough time to scrub the air before your enter. This will also allow time for any bleach smells to dissipate. Its is requested that you do wear a mask when entering our office for your appointment. Any providers in office will also be wearing a mask.

If you have any questions regarding this new policy please contact Danielle at 509-453-1420

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. We look forward to continuing to serve your massage therapy needs.

Covid-19 and Massage

We are open during these unprecedented times. However, we are required to follow strict guidelines in order to keep you the patient and we the providers safe from transmission of Covid-19.

Governor Inslee’s proclamation 20-25 allows health care providers to continue essential health services, which includes massage therapy. But we have a list of required actions we must follow in order to remain open.

We may only provide massage services to patients with urgent medical issues. “Examples include, but are not limited to, lymphatic drainage issues, moderate to severe whiplash, and acute pain control. ” We must screen each patient for symptoms of respiratory illness, which include fever, cough or difficulty breathing. We must ask that you the patient implement self-care measures as much as possible. Hydrate, rest, stretch, move your body if possible when appropriate, and try some self massage. We will also be required to stager appointments, meaning you may be asked to come in at another time to keep at least 6 feet of distance between you and another patient.

If our providers display any respiratory symptoms they will be required to reschedule your appointment. All providers will be wearing personal protective coverings during your treatment. We will also be continuously wiping down all surfaces you or someone else may have come into contact with, so please do not get offended if we sanitized as you walk out of the door.

We will get through this together and as always we appreciate your business. Stay safe, stay healthy, and call 509-453-1420 if you have any questions.

God Bless
